Don’t you just love those “think outside the box” kind of ideas when it comes to interiors and your home?  We do.  It’s great to escape the obvious sometimes which is why (being lovers of anything bedroomy…) we always enjoy spotting unconventional ideas for bedside tables.

What is a bedside table anyway?  It’s really just a place to put things that you may want during the night or when you get up (lamp, book, phone)…oh, and of course you want it to look great too.  It doesn’t have to be a table though - chairs, stools, crates, baskets, drums, ladders or even a pile of books will do.  Besides, upcycling and repurposing is a great way to pack some personality into your space.  Here’s a few ideas that are sure to inspire you!

We love the ladder idea...a space saver, practical and looks amazing -

A painted tree stump (or you could leave it natural...) perfect for a rustic/earthy  feel -

Crates on caster wheels seem to look good anywhere including this divine white bedroom -

This filing cabinet with its utilitarian look works perfectly in this space (lots of drawers for handy storage too!) -

Bedside "tables" don't need to match either -

A lovely vintage chest in a truly beautiful bedroom by Arent & Pyke -

A simple chair is sometimes all you need.  This one is full of character and complements the bedding beautifully -

This swing table creates a sense of fun and is a great contrast against the dark wall -

If you are a big reader perhaps a stack a books could work for you -

A wall mounted floating box is a great idea if you are short on space -

We love repurposing furniture in our own styling.  Here, we've used a simple cane basket in this shot of our Oxford bedhead (upholstered in Tilda Almond by Warwick Fabrics) -
